Fourteenth National Youth Event in Lednica

Womanhood – gift and mystery

June 5th 2010

We hope to deepen our understanding of the mystery that is womanhood and enliven our awareness of the importance of women among us. In learning about our first mother Eve and the mystery of Mary, we wish to discover the mission of every woman, that of our mothers’, our sisters’ and finally to understand the mission of the Church herself, the bride of Christ.

Womanhood has always been an integral part of our Polish culture, as evidenced in our oldest hymn’ Bogurodzica’, the oldest recorded sentence in Polish, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski’s conviction that men should stand up in the presence of a woman and John Paul II’s magnificent tribute to Polish womanhood delivered in Gniezno.

A true man, like Adam, awakes at the sight of a woman. This makes womanhood a precious gift. All women, therefore enrich us and give themselves to us making us more sensitive and delicate. Their radiating womanhood enriches our Polish and Christian culture.

We cordially invite you and await you all in Lednica so that we can mutually

enrich our humanity.
